Jennifer Morrison’s Woodbine Thoroughbred Selections: Friday, October 9, 2020
BEST BET:  (2) MALIBU UPROAR – Race 7
SPOT PLAY: (7) THE REIGN MAN) Race 8
Pick 4 Play  (.20 cents, Races 4-7) :  1,5,6,7 / 3,4,7 / 1, 3, 5/ 2 = $7.20

Race 1 – (1) ZYANZA goes on Lasix for her second race of the year and first since August when she stopped early. She has had a lot of workouts since that opener and might be the quickest out of the gate. (4) SUPER CHOCOLATE has won 3 of her 4 races this year and she was claimed last time, Aug. 14, by Newtop Stable but she drops in class off the claim. She had a workout that was fast on Sept. 10 but no pres in the 29 days since then (at press time). (6) BLONDE ATTITUDE will be trying to catch up at the five furlong distance as she did when she won in July. (7) SNELL FLICKA has had a nice year for owner/trainer Gary Chudobiak at Fort Erie and she will get reacquainted with Tapeta in this first Woodbine visit of 2020.

Race 2- (3) ORAZIO gets back to the main track after beating half the field in a much tougher race on grass and his won his maiden in his previous outing in a decent clocking. (2) CASH ADVANCE simply does not want to be on turf and three starts back he won his maiden by more than 7 lengths after and a return to that form puts him in the picture. (6) GREEN GROWTH shows speed in his route races and continue to slide down in class. He must avoid a battle with (7) HUNGARY who can be tough on the pace.

Race 3- (6) DIDDLEY is ultra quick and he tumbles back down in class for his third race of the year after just failing to hold on in his latest at 5 1/2 furlongs. (5) COLLEEN'S SAILOR has earned in excess of $600,000 and he returns from Fort Erie where he was a recent winner on the dirt. (1) STRATE REMARK has been claimed from his last pair of starts including a gritty win at 7 furlongs Sept. 4 and he should like the shorter distance.(7) STATION ROCK just won at 5 furlongs on turf at Fort Erie and he handles the Woodbine Tapeta okay.

Race 4 – The Pick 4 wager begins with a confusing route race for $5,00 claiming fillies and mares. (5) SING YOUR LIFE won her maiden in her third career race last time, on turf, and is well spotted for her Tapeta debut. (6) PRESSURE FRONT won handily when dropped to $4,500 claiming against maidens last time. (7) TOTALLY PERFECT plunges in class and tries a route distance for the first time and she has some stamina in her breeding. (1) SICK SOCIETY just won her maiden in her first try at the route distance and has worked a bullet 3 furlongs since then.

Race 5 – (3) HITTERS PARK usually runs Beyer Figures in the high 70s but put up a 96 when he won a turf sprint in his season debut in July. He was flat in his latest in August on Tapeta in another starter allowance and now is offered for $20,00 claiming. (7) WESTERN TROUBLE won big off a 2 month break and horses from this barn that won their last start often win right back (27% last 2 years). (4) SINGANDCRYINDUBAI has been 2 years without a win and this is just his second race of 2020 and he figures to go forward from that return outing. (5) SENT FROM HEAVEN has been in stunning form since he went to Fort Erie from Tampa Bay. Two starts back he posted his best career Beyer Figure of 84.

Race 6 – (3) SHOW SOME SKIN's two races of this year were both speed tries at 6 furlongs and she landed third each time. She shortens up slightly and recently had a blazing workout of 46 2/5 for 4 furlongs. (1) SEAMIALAUGH ran a winning race when back on Tapeta Sept. 17 but was caught late by a filly who was long overdue to win. (5) DID I STUTTER was third in a maiden allowance on Tapeta two starts ago and quickly gets back to the main track after another grass attempt. (7) THATSMYKINDANIGHT had a pleasing debut outing when fourth behind the top 2 selections.

Race 7 – (2) MALIBU UPROAR can bounce back to his winning form with the class drop to $40,000. He was in a sizzling one mile turf race last time that went in very fast time and he was not far from third place. (9) EXPLODE ran a super race in his turf debut Sept. 25, just missing by a neck after pressing the pace. He seems to fit in well at the $40,00 level. (6) COLEYVILLE is at his best at this class level whether it is turf or Tapeta and he was just a nose back of Explode last time. (1) GUITAR GEORGE is a consistently good fellow who dropped in class to get his first win of 2020 last time. He is 0 for 8 on the grass but can pick up a share.

Race 8 – (7) THE REIGN MAN pressed the pace in a 6 furlong turf dash most recently and held third. He shortens to 5 furlongs and has lots of speed to stalk. (10) HEY CONGRATS is one of the speed guys in the field and he won his maiden at this distance on turf Sept. 25 in quick time. (9) FREE SPEECH adds blinkers and should have a strong finish as he ran well when a head behind the top pick in his latest. (5) NORTHERN SOLUTION had a messy start to his latest when he was meeting a few of these and he can do better with a clean beginning.
