Jennifer Morrison’s Woodbine Thoroughbred Selections: Thursday, November 25, 2021
Best Bet – (4) EVER SO D'WILD – Race 3
Spot Play – (5) FRAME THIS – Race 6
Today's Play:  Pick 4 (Races 4-7, .20 cent base wager):  1, 3, 6, 8 / 4, 5, 7, 12 /  2, 5,6 / 1, 8 = $19.20

Race 1 —  (3) TRANQUIL SKY drops many class levels in search of her maiden win and her fifth place finish for $40,000 optional last time certainly makes her logical for just $14,000. Maryland invader  (2) CHELICHNA, like other gals in the field, has little early speed but she came home very fast in her latest on turf at Laurel Park.  (4) ALLURING MEG stretches out to a route distance for the first time for trainer Martin Drexler and she has the pedigree to like the added yardage.  (6) SMARTY ILLUSION is another filly getting some class relief and this will be her first try on the Tapeta surface.

Race 2 —  (3) ELITE PRINCESS lost all chance at the start of her latest when down to this bottom-level claiming price for the first time. Patrick Husbands stays on board for this five furlong dash.  (7) PESARO is quick out of the gate and she comes off a layoff following her maiden win on the turf.  (8) DEVINE DANCING just won her maiden at five furlongs so her confidence is high.  (6) LET'S HAVE FUN is at the bottom claiming level for the first time and may have a rally to get a share.

Race 3 —  This five furlong sprint should set up for  (4) EVER SO D'WILD who ran super last time when second behind the streaking Dancing Doll. These are easier.  (5) SEA LILY likes to be mixing it up on the pace in her races but there is a lot of pace in this field. Shortening up to five furlongs may see her tracking the other speed and she keeps her favourite rider, Patrick Husbands.  (8) REAL COAL is very quick and she was just behind the top pick when she came off a two month break last time.  (7) GELATO AMORE faded in her latest when dropping in class. She was claimed and note the winner of that dash has come back to win again.

Race 4 —  The Pick 4 begins with a maiden race for fillies and  (8) CORA is overdue for her first win. She does not have a lot of stamina for the last furlong of her races but she drops in claiming price.  (3) DAREDEVIL IS BACK was burned out in a pace duel at a slightly longer sprint distance last time.  (1) LA PRINCESSA POLLY finished nicely in her latest, although the winner was a gal who was winning in her 35th attempt.  (6) CRUMLIN BIRD shortens up sharply in distance off the claim and she should be finishing well.

Race 5 —  I have picked  (5) VIOLET JESSOP in her two starts and she has done just fine. She gets a slight class drop and is back in two weeks with leading rider Kimura returning to ride.  (12) PARADIGM SHIFT has a tough post but she did quite okay despite trouble in her debut.  (4) GORMLEY GIRL is by one of the continent's leading first crop sires, and she had her best outing in her latest at this class level.  (7) FORMENTOR has had three bullet workouts since September including a sizzling 47 flat for four furlongs on Nov. 17. She has some speed in her breeding.

Race 6 —  (5) FRAME THIS takes a while to get going but she was up for third in her latest and is in good form.  (6) IS THERE A FOREST has tactical speed and she drops for her second race since her maiden win.  (2) FIONNUALA won her maiden at a route distance last time with a class drop. She earned a solid 65 Beyer Figure that day but will have to hurry at this six furlong distance.  (3) NINJA PRINCESS was claimed from her maiden win, which was on the slow side but she is eligible to improve.

Race 7 —  (8) ST. PADDY'S DADDY will race without his blinkers in this second race since he was claimed from a tough trip. His first race for owner and trainer Steven Chircop was solid as he rallied for fourth.  (1) CONQUER HIM has been hinting in recent races with steady rallies and he will try 1 1/8 miles.  (6) HIATUS was a big maiden winner for $5,000 claiming last time and he was claimed. New owner/trainer Jeff Voyce has a 44% win rate with wins off the claim.  (4) ENGLISH CLASSIC drops to a new low level and can close ground and get a share.

Race 8 —  (6) SON OF MY FATHER shortens up from a series of route races, but he does have some early speed and most of his rivals in this maiden race have little early power.  (10) AFLEET EDDIE just missed last time in his first race at the bottom maiden level at Woodbine and is logical.  (4) DOMINANT FACTOR was second in his last attempt at a sprint distance.  (7) SILENT FIRE was on the edges at this level in his latest but can be used in exotic wagers.  (2) LUCKY LUKE plunges in class for a new trainer and his workout times since Halloween have been solid.
