Chantelle Bourgeois' Shake It Twice, whom she owns, trains and bred at her Enniskillen, ON farm will be odds-on to win the 8th Ontario Sires Stakes Derby worth $56,300 on Sunday at Ajax Downs.
"Team Purple" will be out in full force for the OSS Derby - Bourgeois' and family dress up in the racing silk-purple - as SHAKE IT TWICE goes for her third straight win and first in a stakes race.
The 3-year-old filly, who has a career record of three wins in seven races, is a true homebred as Bourgeois raced and owns both the filly's sire Look at Magics Form and dam Shake Pretty Baby.
"She's a really exciting filly," said Bourgeois. "I have been working with her line of horses for about 15 years and we expected a lot from her and she's been fulfilling it."
Shake It Twice, also know as 'Ella', drew post 7 in the 10-horse Derby field. Cory Spataro is her regular rider. Bourgeois will also start Momsextravagantheart, bred by husband Dean Link.
Shake It Twice's main competition could come from a pair of 3-year-olds owned by Christine Tavares and trained by Joe Tavares: Perryfunnysteven, post 2 with Brian Bell and A Fancy Arrangement, post 10 with Regan Knowles.
The OSS DERBY is race 7 on a big nine-race card at Ajax Downs. There will be a giveaway (with track program) of a limited edition OSS Travel Mug and another segment of "10 Days of Winning"celebrating the track's 50th anniversary in which fans have a chance to win one of four $50 betting vouchers.
