Popular Patio Day and Ontario's 2-year-old Stars of the Future this Sunday
Ajax Downs' popular Patio Day is back this Sunday, August 4 offering on-track fans chances to win a variety of great prizes for your patio. To enter just deposit a losing betting ticket in the drum and we will be drawing prizes all day!
 
Sunday is the 14th day of Ajax Downs' 50th Anniversary season and a super card of racing includes the $21,000 second-leg of the Sprint Series for older horses at 220 yards plus two Trial dashes for the $50,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity. The final will be held on August 25 for the 10 fastest qualifiers.
 
James Bogar of Cameron, ON is in the midst of a career year as a Quarter Horse owner and his A LONE HAND is the one to beat in the first trial, race 2, at 330 yards. Brian Bell will ride this attractive bay from post position 1.
 
The second trial, race 3, is headed by MAGIC DOWN THERE, a filly owned and trained by Scott Reid and ridden by Cassandra Jeschke.
 
At the midway point of the 2019 Quarter Horse season, the Jockey and Trainer races are close. Tony Phillips leads all riders with 18 victories, just five ahead of Ramiro Castillo (13), Cory Spataro (12) and Brian Bell and Regan Knowles with 11.
 
Jason Pascoe leads the trainer's race with 14 wins over Joe Tavares (10), Barry Wood (8) and Bryn Robertson and Carol McIntyre who each have seven wins.
