Hampton, Ontario's Carol McIntyre, in just her third season of training Quarter Horses, leads all trainers at
Ajax Downs after two more wins on May 19.
McIntyre, who trains the horses she owns with husband Dave, won the Daily Double on the third day of Ajax's 50th anniversary season with Senator Woot and Its Sweet Tobe First and now has four victories in 2019. Both winners were ridden by Corrine Andros.
One of the featured races of the afternoon, an $18,000 Ontario-sired allowance race was won by previous Horse of the Year FIESTY ICON, who is two for two in 2019 for owner Rick Kennedy.
The day also marked the first of 10 50th anniversary contest dates in which fans in attendance can win one of four $50 betting vouchers. Those winners will then be entered in a final draw on Oct. 14 for prizes totaling $3,500. The next contest date is this Sunday, May 26.
Also this Sunday is the highly anticipated re-match between Had to Be Ivory and three-time Horse of the Year Country Boy 123 in the $50,000 Picov Maturity. Had to Be Ivory upset the champ in a prep race on May 12, the first loss for Country Boy 123 at Ajax Downs since the summer of 2017.
Entries will be drawn for the Picov Maturity this Thurday. For more information follow us on Twitter, @AjaxDowns, Facebook and Instagram or visit www.ajaxdowns.com.
