TORONTO, May 1 - Surrounded by his wife Renee, four children (Owen, Jeremy, Elias and Gavin) and fellow jockeys, an emotional Justin Stein said goodbye to fans on Sunday afternoon at Woodbine.

Stein, 36, retired after Sunday’s card at Woodbine with 1,028 wins and 15 years of race-riding, to move back to his native British Columbia.

Stein was presented with a framed memento of his career, which acknowledged his biggest achievements, including the 2012 Queen’s Plate (Strait of Dover) and 2015 Woodbine Oaks, (Academic), by Steve Lym, Woodbine’s Director of Racing, in a ceremony after the afternoon’s second race.

"I'm going to miss all the horses that I've ridden over the years," Stein said, "I'll remember many of them. I'm thankful for all the hearts they've shown and given me."
