Top driver Trevor Henry gets credit for countless Ontario Sired stars over his career, but none were more important than Hams Delight.
Henry was just 22 when he bought the then two-year-old Ontario Sired trotting filly sired by Orbell G G out of Casandra Bee. Henry also trained and drove Hams Delight, who won a $100,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Final for him on July 24, 1993 at Sudbury Downs.
“I was just young, so it kind of got me started,” Henry said of Hams Delight who earned over $165,000 over 87 starts over six racing seasons.
Twenty-two years later, Trevor Henry has won nearly 5,800 career races as a driver and purse earnings of almost $39 million.
But it all started with Hams Delight.
