“The horse that changed my life would have to be Charlotte's Quest because she took me places I have never been.
I went with her owner to Keeneland to purchase her as a yearling. The following year, I took her to Ocala, Florida, for the 2-year-old in training sale. She didn't sell, so I ran her at Woodbine, and then I took her to run in the OBS Sales Stakes in Ocala. The following year, she ran well, so then I took her to Gulfstream and then on to Tampa.
She was a small horse with a big heart. She knew me as her mom as I took care of her for a very long time. Although she never became a good racehorse, she did the best she could for a little horse. I met a lot of people along the way who still remain as my friends, thanks to Charlotte's Quest.
My fondest memory of her off the track was when she was out in her paddock in Florida and we were getting storm warnings for later that day. Although it was still a beautiful day, she knew that storm was on the way. I went back early to the barn to bring her in and I have never seen her so happy to see me. She screamed, running towards me - she wanted me to save her before the storm came.
She just recently retired now as a 5-year-old, a happy and sound girl in Medicine Hat, Alberta.”
