“The horse that changed my life would be my pony Baffert. He is a Quarter Horse who I bought to be a barn pony. I've had him for over 10 years now and he has become part of my family. He is an all-around horse, worth his weight in gold. He has taught children to ride, ponied at the track and carried me around for several years. There have been many horses that have taught me over the years and I'm still learning something new every day from them as well.
My fondest memories – which are quite a few and we're still making them – would have to be swimming in Lake Erie with him.
When I think of Baffert, the first thing that comes to mind is, ‘I wonder how many boards he has cribbed down today in the paddock?’ He has been a cribber his whole life and I believe he enjoys watching me put the boards back up. But I still love him even though he creates more work for me to do.”
