“The name of the horse that changed my life is Indian Ancestry. Indian Ancestry is the horse that I rode the day that I accomplished getting my license as a jockey. As an exercise rider, I would take Indian Ancestry out on the track in the early mornings and exercise her. The day that I rode Indian Ancestry in a trial run for my license, I could tell that she was excited too. Her trainer gave me the opportunity to ride Indian Ancestry in a race. The race with Indian Ancestry was my first and it was my first win.
I met Indian Ancestry on the racetrack, but besides riding her in races, I would visit her in the barn and spend time with her.
Indian Ancestry loves to eat grass, so my favourite pasttime was gathering her a bucket of grass and feeding it to her.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Indian Ancestry is how honest of a horse she is. Indian Ancestry always tried so hard in the races when I rode her and showed me that having a bond with a horse helps when you want to win a race.
A jockey can be skilled in what they do, but having a good, honest horse is what helps a jockey win a race.”
