“The horse that changed my life was a handsome chestnut named Theres a Reason. He changed my life because he renewed my love for horse racing and working with the horses. When I went back to the track after a long absence, it was just a job to help pay for school. Then I met "Sunny." He was the first horse I fell in love with since I was a child and I think he fell in love with me, too. He had my number. He would throw tantrums in his stall just because he knew I would go over and it would usually turn into an extended cuddle time. So much so that my boss (Denyse McClachrie) would always know where to find me…with Sunny.

When I would go to visit Sunny, his eyes would light up and ears prick forward. When I would have to leave it was sad because he would give me this look like, ‘Mom why are you leaving me?’ He knew how to guilt me.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of him is, ‘crazy!’ But, I don’t mean that in a bad way. He had his special way of needing things done and I guess I just had the calming nature that he needed. He have us some thrilling races in 2014, including a win at 70-1 that October. We still talk about that race to this day.”
