Mike Bozich’s Grand River Selections for Monday, August 26, 2019
Best Bet - (1) DREAMFAIR ZENFIRE - Race 8
Spot Play - (7) MR CHEESEMAN - Race 3
Early Pick 4 - 1,2,7/4,6,9/2,5,7/6,8,9 = $16.20
Late Pick 4 - 1,3/1,3/1,7/4,6 = $3.20

Race 1 - (4) BEARY YU VON did not fire her best shot last out but previous efforts suggest she’s capable of more. (8) BAD VENDETTA did the work last time and came up a tad short. She has the speed to overcome the poor post. (3) W C KENZIE COOKIE showed some closing ability at Charlottetown. She gets first time Sorrie and appears to be a reasonable value option underneath.

Race 2 - (2) WINDSONG PIONEER gets class and post relief. He was dominant in overnight competition in July. (6) MAGICALLY HIP defeated stakes types five starts back. The move to overnights should spur improvement. (3) RADICAL ROY is riding a positive form cycle over the last few starts against similar competition.

Race 3 - (7) MR CHEESEMAN drops into overnight competition after a series of even efforts against stakes competition. The post makes the price. (1) REDDING HANOVER closed well last time in what was an improved effort. He draws well and the upswing should continue. (2) LAST THREE is coming off two perfect trip runner-up finishes in a row. He should be in line for a great trip once again.

Race 4 - (4) BRA IN THE WIND lost all hope when she broke at the word go from a poor post last out. She won last time she faced overnighters. (6) SNOOKER showed good early foot in her last two starts. She raced well despite facing constant pressure in her last. (9) PINK DANDELIONS was spent after an extended middle move in her last. She was an easy winner two starts back.

Race 5 - (7) KADS KISS had no chance due to a tough trip in her last. She raced well enough two starts back and should enjoy the drop in class. (2) TRUE CUSTOM gets first time Lasix here. He showed good speed two starts back and that could be an indicator of good things to come. (5) PINE ESPOIR drops back to a level where she has had some success.

Race 6 - (6) TOONIETINA drops in class and has the raw speed advantage in this spot. This field is more than manageable. (9) GET UP N GOUDA was an easy winner on debut three starts back and she has been hampered with tough posts since. The climate is right for improvement. (8) BUTTERFLY KISSES is coming off a solid qualifier. The post is concerning but creates value at the same time. (5) AMERICAN IN LONDON qualified evenly at Mohawk and gets a manageable field on debut. (3) FINAL DECISION needs to step forward a bit to contend but does get post relief and Kelly back.

Race 7 - (3) RAISING ROYALTY made an uncharacteristic break last out. He does own tons of speed and figures to be the one to catch in here. (1) AVATAR SEELSTER is in a good spot to enjoy an up-close journey. He is enjoying a good form cycle at the present. (2) ANGEL STATUS is another that figures to benefit from a good inside journey.

Race 8 - (1) DREAMFAIR ZENFIRE gets Cullen back after a near miss from the rail last out. She drops down to boot and figures to be tough to beat from this spot. (3) P L LIGHTNING continues her sharp form with a good performance in defeat last out. She won three-straight at this level prior. (6) STONEBRIDGE LOYAL made them pay for a soft pace last time on the lead. It won’t be that easy this time, but her previous efforts are strong.

Race 9 - (1) P C HEISENBERG is coming off two solid efforts at this level and draws well once again. (7) ILL STAY HERE can race from on or off the pace. The brief time off is a concern off the scratch sick, but the value will more than make up for it. (8) NOBODYNOSJUSTICE recovered nicely from a break at the start last out. He has a string of near misses in his earlier lines.

Race 10 - (6) OLE JACK MAGIC drops in class after an even effort in his last. He raced evenly against much tougher in his previous lines and fits well here. (4) LETS LEAVEM lost all chance with a break at the start in his last. He is another that should enjoy class relief here. (2) SPARTAN VICTORY raced okay on the lead last time against a similar field. The veteran draws well once again. (3) MASSIVE MUSCLES has been knocking at the door and figures to be a good mid-priced option underneath. (9) BRED FOR GREATNESS moved well in the middle last out but hung late. That was an improved effort and the upswing could continue here.
