Best Bet – (1) ORBORTUNISTIC - Race 1
Spot Play – (6) MOON OVER VICTORIA – Race 4
Pick 4 (.20 cents, Races 4-7) - 6, 9, 11 / 1, 5 /3, 4, 6 /1, 4, 6, 8 = $14.40
Race 1 – (1) ORBORTUNISTIC looks like the most logical winner in this large field of $15,000 claiming fillies on the E P Taylor turf. She only recently returned to racing after a long vacation and she sprinted in that comeback race. (3) MILLBANK MAGIC won her only grass race and the gals who were second and third to her that day are recent winners. (8) CRUMLIN TIME wore blinkers in her latest on the inner turf course against better fillies and she was one-paced and landed on the edges. In June she came much closer to winning a turf race and that was on this Taylor grass.
Race 2 – (3) SCARLET BOW took an instant liking to the inner turf course when she won n July 3 at this $7,000 claiming level for non-winners of 3 lifetime. Eurico Da Silva has been lured for this return to the grass following a troubled outing on the main track. (5) GIOVANNA PONTI will be one of the favourites based on her recent win on the E P Taylor turf course for a higher claiming price. (7) DEESE NIKE is lightly raced this year and she gets a sharp drop in class and has a sold string of Beyer Figures that make her one of top contender.
Race 3 – (2) RED RIOT drops in class and returns to a sprint distance on turf and she could have a peak effort in this fourth race of the season. Toss her latest at a longer distance as the early pace was very fast and she tired. (8) BIG MAMBA won a turf sprint to break her maiden in July and is in good form. (1) REXDALE has not run a bad race since she arrived at Woodbine and she can land in the superfecta/trifecta. Would also consider (5) HURRCANE EMILY who has been privately purchased since her latest and (10) WILBURNRUBBER who ran so well in a trial race on the inner turf.
Race 4- (6) MOON OVER VICTORIA has found a nice spot to get her second career win. She chased a heavy favourite two starts ago and landed a clear second before showing good speed in a recent turf dash. She is back on the main track and ready to break through. (11) SWEET BRYNLIE was claimed for more than twice this $7,000 claiming price last time by high percentage trainer Norm McKnight. She is logical at this low level. (9) SIMPLY MYSTERIOUS posted a career best 56 Beyer Speed Figure when she won her maiden last time with blinkers on.
Race 5 – (5) ADELLE'S PRINCESS drops in claiming price off the claim by the McKnight stable and she returns to the Tapeta track after a failed grass experiment. She has worked quite a few very fast half miles in the 7 weeks since she changed barns and she will wear blinkers. (1) DREAMIN ON A CLOUD was a big winner at this $25,000 level two starts ago and will be there to pounce should the pick falter. (2) MOONSTONE was a winner on turf off the long layoff but then faded in her latest. She drops in class.
Race 6 – (3) HAILEY'S PRIZE has maintained good form through her four starts this season and drops back down to the $9,500 price she won at two races ago. (6) SKY VISION has won three of his last five starts all at slightly longer distances and her tactical speed is dangerous. (4) CYPRESS PARK is a BC stakes winner who has not raced since last September and she has had a few good workout times since moving to Woodbine.
Race 7- This is the $100,000 Eternal Search Stakes on the inner turf, the feature on Ladies Night at Woodbine. (6) ZESTINA is 3 for 5 on the grass and was a stakes winner on turf last season. She comes off a good chasing attempt when third in the Zadracarta at 7 furlongs and may like the 1 1/16 miles on this tighter course. (1) SHE'S THE BERRIES has only tried grass once and that was a sprint last summer. She has high Beyer Figures on the main track and deserves another shot on turf. (8) MISS SEA ran a huge race to be second in the Zadracarta in her first race as a seven-year-old. She must avoid regressing off that huge run.
Race 8 – (7) DILLY DALLY DARBY has a series of solid Beyer Figures on Woodbine's Tapeta and she lost by inches in her return last time. (1) MOLINARO DEPUTY has filled the trifecta and superfecta in her last four races and is one to work into exotics. (6) FOREST HALO won as the odds-on favourite most recently with Eurico da Silva riding for the first time and they are back in another good spot, although she needs to boost those Beyer Speed Figures.
