Ken Houston Memorial Pace Set For This Sunday At Dresden
July 23, 2021 (DRESDEN) - Ken Houston was never one to shy away from a brawl on the ice which is very fitting as Sunday's race named in his honour is expected to be a battle.

Life Is Better has been called the 9-5 morning line favourite but Bigmacwithcheese will have something to say about that at 2-1 and Millenium Seelster is also throwing his hat into the ring as a contender.

Life Is Better is coming off a wire-to-wire win in 1:57 last week at Dresden. The five-year-old Betterthancheddar gelding will have Garret Rooney at the controls.

Dale Spence is in the bike for Bigmacwithcheese, also a five-year-old Betterthancheddar gelding. Bigmacwithcheese is undefeated at Dresden including winning the Mark Austin Pacing Series in 1:56.2.

Millenium Seelster, a five-year-old Sunshine Beach gelding, is coming of a fourth place finish at GrandRiver in 1:54.2 with a 57.2 back half. Scott Wray will be driving Millenium Seelster.

Ken Houston, who died in 2018, was a regular at Dresden Raceway and was known for his rugged play over nine seasons with the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and LA Kings.

This Sunday will also feature Beer, Burger and a Bet day at Dresden Raceway where patrons will be able to buy a ticket and get a beer, a burger and a $2 bet for $10.

Post time is 1:00pm. Fans who can't make it to the track will be able to watch the races on the Dresden Raceway Youtube Channel and wager at HPIbet.com, Twin Spires and TVG.
