By Garnet Barnsdale, for the USHWA Canada chapter
There was no movement in the $500 Leamington Raceway Handicapping Challenge this past Sunday, October 18, with both handicappers scoring a solid 78 points out of the 105 points available.
Leamington Raceway's Nathan Bain still holds a commanding lead (834 points) over Ontario Racing's Nicholas Barnsdale (796 points).
With only one card of racing remaining in the Leamington season, Barnsdale is going to need to produce the kind of devastating late move made famous by the great Canadian mare trotter Peaceful Way if he is going to swoop past Bain, bridge the 38-point gap, and claim the championship.
The Handicapping Challenge is co-sponsored by the Canadian chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA) and online Standardbred marketplace HoofBid. It is contested every week to the final day of the 2020 Leamington Raceway meet on October 25, with $300 awarded to the winner and $200 to the runner-up.
