The Maryland Jockey Club was alerted to a horse displaying symptoms of equine herpesvirus (EHV),
Thoroughbred Daily News is reporting.
The horse was reportedly displaying neurological abnormalities in its hind limbs on April 14.
The affected horse and another one within close proximity were moved to an isolation barn. The barn that the affected horse was housed in was placed under quarantine.
It's advised that horsepeople monitor their horses closely. Temperatures need to be checked on each horse every day and watching for symptoms such as fever, runny nose, ocular discharge and any neurological symptoms such as staggering.
