Buffalo Raceway's Barn G has been placed under quarantine for exposure to equine herpesvirus - neurologic (EHV-1).

The outbreak was first reported by the Equine Disease Communication Center on April 12.

According to the EDCC, the quarantine may be released after 14 consecutive days of enhanced monitoring, no fevers, no horses displaying clinical signs of EHV-1 or no cases of EHV-1.

MGM Northfield Park is restricting access to their grounds for any horses that have been on the grounds at Buffalo Raceway since March 28, 2024.

It's advised that horsepeople monitor their horses closely. Temperatures need to be checked on each horse every day and watching for symptoms such as fever, runny nose, ocular discharge and any neurological symptoms such as staggering.
