OLG returns as Canadian Triple Crown title partner

TORONTO, June 23, 2022 – Today Woodbine Entertainment announced the return of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. (OLG) as the title sponsor for the 2022 Canadian Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.

“OLG is proud to continue its long-term support of horse racing by once again serving as the title sponsor of the 2022 Canadian Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing,” said Lori Sullivan, OLG Chief Land-based Gaming and Business Development Officer. “We congratulate our valued horse racing partners on their efforts to help grow this thrilling sport for future generations.”

The OLG Canadian Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing consists of The Queen’s Plate (August 21 at Woodbine Racetrack), the Prince of Wales Stakes (September 13 at Fort Erie Race Track) and the Breeders’ Stakes (October 2 at Woodbine Racetrack).

“Woodbine is pleased to once again partner with the OLG for the prestigious Canadian Triple Crown,” said Jim Lawson, CEO of Woodbine. “The OLG’s support of horse racing and events like the Triple Crown is a big assist to Woodbine and other organizations to enhance our premier events and bring thousands to our great sport.”

The OLG Canadian Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing uniquely offers each race on a different track surface.

The 163rd running of The Queen’s Plate on August 21 at Woodbine will be run on the track’s Tapeta surface. The Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie on September 13 is contested over a dirt surface. The Breeders’ Stakes on October 2 is run on Woodbine’s renowned E.P. Taylor Turf Course.
