When it comes to the Covid-19 pandemic, the folks at Woodbine Racetrack would like the province and the city to demonstrate a little horse sense.

The ponies are set to start racing on April 17 at venerable Woodbine Racetrack in Etobicoke following a five-month winter hiatus. However, with the Toronto region currently stuck in the provincial Covid-19 Grey lock down zone – which allows the training of horses but not racing – Woodbine Entertainment CEO Jim Lawson has asked both the province and city to look at the big picture and allow the horses to race (without spectators in the stands and strict health protocols in place).
