Live horse racing continues in Ontario; plenty of options available for watching and wagering on races
ONTARIO RACING, March 17, 2020 – Although Ontario racetracks are temporarily closed to the general public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, live racing continues to be offered throughout the province, providing fans with the opportunity to wager on world-class horse racing.

Live Standardbred racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park, The Raceway at Western Fair District, and Rideau Carleton Raceway is proceeding as scheduled, but without spectators. Essential staff, licensed horsepeople and regulators are the only people who are permitted inside the facilities.

The decision to close these facilities comes in response to Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Williams’ recommendation to suspend all large events and public gatherings due to COVID-19.

Racing fans still have the opportunity to watch live horse racing and wager on the races through HPIBet.com, Canada’s leading destination for betting on horse racing, including multi-track live streaming, accessible 24/7.

Fans can also contact their local cable provider to purchase HPITV, the specialty digital channel devoted exclusively to horse racing coverage across North America and around the world.

Ontario Racing, through its popular Bettors’ Corner page (ontarioracing.com/Learn-To-Bet/Bettors-Corner), provides free daily racing selections and analysis from some of the sport’s most respected racing personalities.

Ontario racetracks are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and are in regular contact with public health officials to determine when it is viable to fully reopen its operations and facilities to the public.
