A five-win driving day at Dresden
July 19, 2020 (DRESDEN) – Driver Marc St. Louis scored five wins at Dresden Raceway in a rain/lightning delayed card of racing.

St. Louis wasted no time winning the first race with Tuition Money after stepping off a final quarter in 28.4 for a 2 ½ length win in 1:58 flat. The six-year-old Real Desire gelding is owned by Bill Collins of Clio, Michigan while Danielle St. Louis is the trainer.

The 31-year-old reinsman showed why they call him “The Torpedo” as he sent Ideal Space to the front and set fractions of 29, 59.2, 1:30.1 and 2:00.4 for a half length win for owner/trainer Gord McDonell. The eight-year-old Western Ideal mare has won four of eight starts this year at Dresden and has finished in the top three every start.

The combination of Marc and Danielle St Louis visited the winner’s circle in the seventh race as Reel was impressive in his first start for the stable. The nine-year-old Shadow Play gelding set fractions of 29, 58.3, 1:29.3 for a time of 1:57.3 for new owner Stewart McQueen of Sarnia.

The Guelph driver picked off his fourth win of the day in the ninth race as he went wire-to-wire with five-year-old Ponder gelding, Let Me See. With St Louis at the controls they set fractions of 29.2, 1:00.2, 1:30.2 for a time of 2:01.2 for owner Kim Biekx of Leamington and trainer Jeff Williams.

St Louis. wrapped up the day just as he started with a win while driving Kevndan Fraudsters for owner trainer Stew McQueen. The Betterthancheddar gelding made up 13 ¾ lengths from the quarter pole on the sloppy track to win by a half length in 2:02.3.

There was about a 30-minute delay as thunderstorms rolled through just before the ninth race.

Dresden Raceway will be making an announcement this week about fans as we will be opening the grounds to 100 fans this Sunday with live betting windows. Management is working out the logistics of how fans will be let in and preparing an emergency accountability list.
