Michael Carter’s Flamboro Downs Selections: Wednesday, October 20, 2021
Best Bet - (3) OUTKAST BLUE CHIP - Race 3
Spot Play - (4) GAMBLING ADDICTION – Race 8
20-Cent Early Pick 5 – Race 1 – 1,3,8/2,9/3/5/1,4,7 = $3.60
20-Cent Late Pick 5 – Race 7 – 3,5,8/4,7/1,9/1,2,4/1,7,8,9 = $28.80
20-Cent Early Pick 4 – Race 3 – 3/5/1,4,7/1,2,4,7,9 = $3.00
20-Cent Late Pick 4 – Race 8 – 4,7/1,9/1,2,4/1,7,8,9 = $9.60

Race 1 —  (1) KISSINBYTHEBEACHES enters off a layoff for trainer Mark Goddard.  He was razor-sharp against this class at Sarnia; if that form transfers, he could be tough to beat.  (3) COUNTRY BOY TOUGH got the perfect trip last out but couldn't get to the leader in the end.  He draws well again this week and should be near the lead.  (8) SINGINTHESUNSHINE draws tough tonight; he has a good early speed and should be able to make the ticket against these.

Race 2 —  (9) UNITY put her foes on notice with a dominant performance last week; she won't be leaving from the second tier but will be following inside speed.  She figures to be tough once again at this level.  (2) SHEZA GAMER has won two-straight, both times from mid-pack.  She draws towards the inside this week and looks to make it three in a row.  (5) SKIP ACROSS was second to Unity last week; she draws slightly better tonight and should make the ticket.

Race 3 —  (3) OUTKAST BLUE CHIP gets some much-needed post relief coming in from Woodbine Mohawk Park where he was racing against more formidable company. He has been racing well of late and should fare better against easier here.  (1) BETTER BE GOUDA looks to drop and pop after a challenging effort at London against Preferred company.  Rail gives him a distinct advantage.  (4) PREMIER JOY A went to the front last week as the favourite but was beaten in the stretch.  He faces slightly tougher tonight but should be racing close to the pace with not a lot of speed to his inside.

Race 4 —  (5) GO NINE O picks up Kelly again this week after a decent effort last out. He raced much better than the line shows, putting up a significant speed figure.  Facing easier, he should have no issues here.  (9) BIT OF LUCK had some success from the far outside in London.  Tonight, starting from the second tier, he will be forced to come from off the pace with no speed starting in front of him; using.  (7) EXCALIBER SEELSTER is a versatile gelding who has put together a string of decent efforts.  He will be coming late and could bring value to the exotics.

Race 5 —  (4) SLIP INTO GLIDE just never got going last week starting from the outside against the more demanding company.  He draws better against an easier field and should return to his winning ways.  (1) YOU CANT HABIT raced well coming to Flamboro last week; he just had too much ground to make up.  Tonight, he faces softer company and should improve from the rail.  (7) AZUCAR makes his first trip north of the border this year, but starting from an outside post, a smaller share is likely.

Race 6 —  (1) ON CRUISE CONTROL tired badly in his last start at Mohawk Park after setting a testing opening fraction.  He should be able to rate the speed better tonight against easier.  (2) GRANDE SEELSTER was a closing second in his last start at Flamboro.  He gets over the track well and figures to make the ticket.  (4) MERVS TRU LEGACY got over the good track well in his last start closing from off the pace to just get up at the wire.  Don't count him out as a contender.  (7) EAST BOUND EDDIE is currently hitting the board almost 50% of the time, no reason to think he can't be a part of the Super Hi-5 at a price.  (9) JACKSON KILLEAN has put together some decent efforts since coming back off the layoff.  He is another that could make the top five at mid-level odds.

Race 7 —  (3) RAVISHIN RUBY got leg-weary through the stretch last week to finish a solid second behind a game Sheza Gamer.  She gets post relief tonight and shouldn't have to work as hard.  (8) STONEBRIDGE SEARCH has won two straight by open lengths.  Post eight will challenge her tonight; we will find out what she is made of in this spot.  (5) EINHORN IS FINKLE closed strongly from off the pace in her last start, only missing by a couple of lengths.  She is a talented filly who is versatile and should be fighting throughout the mile.

Race 8 —  (4) GAMBLING ADDICTION won four starts back at Flamboro against this condition.  He draws into a good spot tonight and has a chance to bring value to the Pick 4.  (7) LORD ANTHONY draws outside tonight, facing easier company.  If he gets over a half well, look for him to be charging late.  (1) P L OLIVER has talent but will most likely be overbet from the rail.  He has speed but sometimes falters down the lane; worth consideration for exotic wagers.

Race 9 —  (9) GREAT MAGIC faces easier tonight after some challenging trips against Preferred company.  The second tier shouldn't bother him, as he likes to close from off the pace.  (1) TT CONWAY could improve tonight, coming to the half for the first time in a while and facing easier.  He has speed and could cut the mile here.  (3) SHEENA SOLDIER seemed to bounce back well from his miscue two starts ago. He is a strong closer who should make the ticket.

Race 10 —  (4) ST LADS THRILLER is a speedy son of Mach Three who has been racing well at this level.  He draws into a good spot with Cullen in the bike again.  (2) HES GOT SWAGGER has improved with every start and handled his own against Preferred 3 company last out.  With the right trip, he could be a factor.  (1) GROOVY JOE finally gets post relief tonight after closing gamely to be second last week.  He won't have to work nearly as hard from the rail tonight.

Race 11 —  (9) LINCOLN BOULEVARD is the closer of the field; his racing style should allow him to get the right trip starting from the second-tier.  (1) IM THINKING faces tougher this week after winning his last start at Charlottetown.  He has speed and could be dangerous if his form transfers to Flamboro.  (8) BEARCATWILLY has only missed the ticket three times in his young career.  Don't count him out of the exotics.  (7) MR CHEESEMAN has put up a couple of solid efforts as of late.  He will be rolling late and shouldn't be left off Super Hi-5 tickets.  (5) SOMEWHERENTUSCANY makes his second start off the layoff tonight.  He races better off the layoff and should be close tonight.  He can make the ticket from here.
