Jennifer Morrison’s Woodbine Thoroughbred Selections: Thursday, November 19, 2020
Best Bet –  (6) SIX PACK GIRL – Race 1
Spot Play  - (9) BADJEROS BOY – Race 4
Pick 4 Play  (.20 cents, Races 4-7) :  2, 5, 9, 11 / 2, 7, 11 / 2, 3 / 1, 5, 6, 9 = $19.20

Race 1 – (6) SIX PACK GIRL should be all set to win her maiden as she has improved from a fourth-place finish, third and then second last time. The turn-back from a route to 7 furlongs should be ideal. (8) – LEFOOTWOSTOMPS led for much of her latest sprint and held second place. Note she had a good workout time since that career best effort. (4) MADAME BOVERY picked up her seventh top 3 placing in her return to Woodbine going a route distance. She is in good form. (2) EXQUISE had been showing speed in her sprints but was far back early in a route race last time and passed a few rivals.

Race 2 – There is quite a bit of speed in this sprint for $10,000 claiming and one gal who has stalking speed is (4) PEARL HEIST who also plunges in class. She was even-money last time for a $40,000 tag   but faded and she has had a fast workout since that race 6 weeks ago.  (3) GRATEFUL PRAISE can rally for a big share as she did when she won for $23,500 claiming in September. (2) J M R BOLD VISIONS has been in great form for trainer Steven Chircop and just needs to find a way to conquer the 6 furlong distance. (10) MERINO WOOL has won two straight races and paired up her top Beyer Figures in the latest win.

Race 3- (7) HELL N WILD has been razor sharp in 2020 with four starts and each one followed by several weeks off. She just won her grass debut with a new top Beyer Figure of 87 and is very likely to win again. (2) RAISON D'ETRE is an improving filly who could cycle up to a 80+ Beyer Figure as she drops out of a stakes race that went in sizzling time. (1) NANTUCKET RED chased the top pick in their latest on turf and she handles an all weather surface. (5) OCEANS OF LOVE is 2 for 3 on the Tapeta and she comes off a 5 month layoff for Mark Casse's team and has lots of fast workout times.

Race 4 – (9) BADJEROS BOY posted his best career Beyer Figure of 84 at this 9 furlong distance. That was many races ago but this old timer is lightly raced this year and came close to winning two starts ago and his trainer Martin Drexler and team have been on a roll. (11) HIT THE TICKET won his latest when dropped to the bottom claiming price for the first time for trainer Norm McKnight. (5) ENGLISH ILLUSION has not done much in a couple of seasons but he drops to a new low class. (2) FIRST SPRING is better on the grass but did okay in his latest when getting reacquainted with Tapeta for the Alex McPherson barn.

Race 5 – (11) NAUGHTY MABEL does not have a great post for the short turn to the first turn but she ran a winning race last, perhaps moving too soon to the lead. If she can work out a trip she has a big chance to win her maiden. (2) REIGN BY REIN was odds on for her second career race and landed third after a speed showing. She is bred to like the longer distance. (7) SISTEROFTHEMOON is the lone first time starter in the field and she is by Malibu Moon, a top US sire.  (3) KEYED UP makes her second start since July and has the breeding to appreciate the route distance. The Colebrook Farm/jockey Sunny Singh combo is a good one.

Race 6 – (2) TEXT ME UP ran away from the field in her Oct. 29 outing, her first at this bottom claiming level and first race off a 2 month layoff. As long as she does not regress too much off that big effort she can double up. (3) CLAIRESSENCE is 'first time bottoms' off a pair of second place finishes on turf and Tapeta for $10,000 claiming. (1) DON'T GET SMART drops into a non-winners of 3 lifetime race after just missing by a head against multiple winners. (7) TWENTYTWENTYCREST was my pick at 41 to 1 last time and she landed third and she drops to the bottom class level.

Race 7 –(6) LEA RO came close to winning her third race in just 5 starts in 2020 in her latest. She has not won on the Tapeta but also has not raced a a route distance, her favourite, on the main track. (9) NICE BROWN GIRL is a minro stakes winner from BC who drops in class and tries Tapeta for the second time. She worked a fast 1/2 mile on the surface Nov. 8, 46 3/5.  (5) SAYSO has been consistently good at this $25,000 claiming level and won at this distance on Tapeta in August. (1) ARAMON has won 2 of her last 3 races, both sprints, and she tries a route distance for the first time and will get stamina from her dam.

Race 8 – (1) GIZMO'S PRINCESS tumbles in class for her 6th outing of the year and was in a bit of traffic when 4th in her most recent Tapeta outing. (6) LA BONITA romped to her maiden win last time for $10,000 and is looking for more at this $5,000 class. (5) PRESSURE FRONT can post a Beyer Figure in the 50s if she gets away to a better beginning, (9) YOU CAN'T CATCH HER comes out of the hot Dan Vella barn and tries a route distance on the main track for the second time. Vella has a 25% win rate with 'sprint to route' moves in the last 2 years. For the High 5, consider (4) BEARAKONTIE who just won her maiden at this distance.
