Best Bet - (8) MAGNUM MOON - Race 4
Spot Play - (5) OCEANVIEW MAGNUM - Race 3
20-cent Pick 4 – Race 5 - 2,6/2,8/4,5/3,7 - $3.20

Race 1 - (1) WILSONS VINNER took a win two back and drops back to face similar again with post relief. Scott Young seemingly picked him over (3) NOSPORTPUNINTENDED, who also drops. These two are the main players; slight edge to the former. (7) OZZIE YOUNG won last out and appears to have the class to contend with the top two, but the outside draw is tough - consider underneath.

Race 2 - (3) SPECTRUM SEELSTER has hit the board but fallen short of the mark in six of his past seven. In this spot, tonight should be the night. (2) PRIVATE SCOTT has had success in this condition at Kawartha, and could be in with a shot if he finds a good striking position. (5) ILLGETMYOWN THANKS got off the mark for 2020 last time at Hanover, but takes a big step up. I’ll try him in the Triactor pool for a price.

Race 3 - (5) OCEANVIEW MAGNUM dropped to the Preferred last out and did well under the guidance of Brett Macdonald. He should be firing out again and could go right down the road. (1) G A SPEED SAMMY dead-heated with the choice for second in that July 21 contest, and now he grabs the rail for another try. He’s got a big shot. (3) BRODYS SCRAPPER took his first win of the year versus weaker 11 days ago; he’s also worth consideration.

Race 4 - (8) MAGNUM MOON placed in OSS Gold company two back and he gets much easier foes now; top call. (7) BETWEEN I N U has shown aptitude in Grassroots events, and he’ll be in contention this time if the trip works out. (6) HEZ MY BUDDY dropped a chunk of time in his recent qualifier, indicating that some possible previous issues have been remedied. Expect improvement here. (1) STATE SENATOR was also good in his prep, I’ll throw him in the Hi-5. (2) CENTURY HEFNER was just two fifths off the above’s time; he’s worth an inclusion as well.

Race 5 - (6) AMINI went wire-to-wire in a Grassroots event and looks poised to do so again, especially with the high-percentage J.R. Plante in the bike. (2) BEACH BLOGGER finished second in a solid debut against Grassroots horses on July 6, but he broke last out. If he paces every step and gets a workable trip, he could be a winner. (3) FAVARO SEELSTER’s qualifier two back was a relatively quick one, and I see him getting a minor share with a similar effort.

Race 6 - (2) SPORTIE LORNIE is one of the form horses of the field, with two seconds and a show in his past four. He’s tough to decide against. (8) WINDSONG QUINCY was a strong winner last out, but he’s saddled with the troublesome eight-hole here. I’ll use him in the pick four, expecting a challenge. (5) WILD COUNTRY has finished third twice in his past three; I can see him doing so again in this group.

Race 7 - (4) PRO BEACH drops back to a level where he’s had success in the past. His starts at Mohawk indicate he’s still sharp; he’s the one to catch here. (5) CARSONS SHADOW also steps down after some solid outings in Campbellville. He should be a contender too. (6) YS LOTUS showed some form at Yonkers pre-break, and he makes his second start in Canada. The last trip was taxing, and he should do better with an inside slot.

Race 8 - (3) TRIM THE SAILS has been strong in her past three and should be put into play once again. If she makes the top unscathed, she’ll be hard to catch. (7) THE TRAGICALLY HEP was similarly good in her past few, but has to deal with the poor draw here. I’ll add her in the pick 4 and hope for a trip. (1) RUNNINDOWNADREAM had success at lower levels, but now faces stronger opponents for the second time. She gets a much better post, so I’ll try her underneath. (9) SURE FIRE KATIE can use her late kick to latch onto the end of the Hi-5 ticket in this spot. (2) DREAMADREAMFORME has done well in minor stake events in the past month; she would add value to the exotics.
