Best Bet – (5) MARLBANK ROAD – Race 3
Spot Play – (5) PRESTO SCORE – Race 7
20-Cent Pick 5 – Race 1 – 5,7,8/1,2,3/5/3,6/1,2,3,6,8 = $18.00
20-Cent Pick 4 – Race 4 – 3,6/1,2,3,6,8/1,7/1,4,5 = $12.00
Race 1- (8) CENTURY HEFNER thrived with the move to this track, and coming right back in the same class he should be tough here despite drawing wide. (7) U R ASURPRISE TOME should find these easier, and Cullen will likely give him an aggressive steer; using. (5) TWAIN SEELSTER won by a distance in his July 10th qualifier which isn’t something you see every day. He was in some fast Grassroots races last year, and he’s worth a look for the Pick 5 that starts out with a carryover in excess of $2,000.
Race 2 – (2) CENTURY GRIZZLY didn’t have much of a chance racing against the razor-sharp Lancaster Bomber yet he was only beaten six lengths in a very fast race. This is a better spot for him, and he has a good shot in here. (1) KEVMARVALOUS comes in off a terrific mile at Hanover Raceway. This is an obviously tougher spot, but he is improving rapidly and he might be up to it. (3) ILLGETMYOWN THANKS exits the same race as the choice, and he will be closer to the leaders in this short field, so he is in with a chance.
Race 3 – (5) MARLBANK ROAD is back with NW2 after trying tough Grassroots foes, and he has a big shot here racing on or near the lead. (7) CHUCK THE CHEESE steps out of his comfort zone at Kawartha Downs where he was dominant, but his high speed makes him a contender here. (3) PRIVATE SCOTT figures for a small share at this level.
Race 4 – (6) MILO MAN has finished well in both starts at this track after breaking stride three races ago; speed blast coming tonight? (3) FLASH TOTHE FINISH takes one of the biggest class drops you’ll ever see, so don’t be shocked if there is a complete form reversal with him here. (9) SPORTS BLISS is developing a nice late kick, but the best he can probably hope for is a small share here starting from the widest post.
Race 5 – This is a spot where (2) ALL CHEDDAR should wake up with a better performance, and he could add some value to multi-race tickets. (8) SHADOW IN RED improved here and raced well in a fast dash, but I am hesitant to take a short price on him from an outside post considering he hasn’t shown a proclivity for leaving quickly in recent races. (6) UMPIRE HANOVER brings some solid form with him from Ottawa, and he should be part of the High-5. (3) FEAR THE SHADOW is likely to get a better trip here and take a share as a result. (1) U R DRIVINGME NUTZ should get good position early and take a slice.
Race 6 – (
1) WISHYOUDTELLME drops to face a suspect group, and he should be prominent throughout with the only serious expected challenge to come from (7) DOCS SWAN SONG. The latter is an obvious threat shipping in from New Jersey and coming out of fast races. The one catch is the trainer is listed to drive. Your call. (6) YOOOUKILIS is capable of taking a share vs. these. Look for him late.
Race 7 – (5) PRESTO SCORE showed he is ready for his 2021 debut by pacing a 27 2/5 third 1/4 in his blowout qualifying win, and I’ll give him the nod here. (4) MAKE SOME WAVES is the one to beat coming off a sharp try vs. the tough St Lads Beat It; using. (1) JUSTA BANDIT was a winner last time he raced at this track, and he is hard to toss starting from the rail.
Race 8 – (4) HOLY CHIP comes off a solid effort from an outside post, and he gets the nod tonight. (1) JULIO LAUXMONT has been raced aggressively with Plante driving him the last two starts. He has a big shot tonight. (2) LUCKSLST BLUEGRASS figures to get another great following trip racing close to the front, and he is another option to consider.
Race 9 – (6) STELIOS has a good chance to wire these after cutting some rapid fractions at Mohawk Park last start; top call. (3) OUTLAW GUNPOWDER is in peak form now, and he should be the one to fend off late. (2) OLD BUCK rarely misses the top four, and he is a good one to use underneath in the exotics.
Race 10 – (6) PAPARAZZI HANOVER is unlikely to get parked the mile here like he did from post 10 at Mohawk Park, and he should be the one to catch facing easier here. (1) BET ON BRETT comes off a tough trip, too, and he was right there at the finish. He should be an Exacta factor. (5) PRESTIGE SEELSTER will take action here but notice he got beat as the 1 to 9 chalk two starts back. I’ll play to beat him out of the Exacta. (4) ST LADS THRILLER is capable of better than he has shown recently. I see him as part of the High-5 tonight. (2) TRIDENT SEELSTER can take a small share here off an inside following trip; using on the bottom.
