Mike Bozich's Western Fair Selections: Wednesday, May 8, 2019

Best Bet - (5) HUSSYS BLU BOY - Race 6
Spot play - (2) FIGHTYOUROBSESSION - Race 7
Early Pick 4 - 2,3,4/1,2,8/2,3,4/5 = Total $5.40
Late Pick 4 - 2,4,6/1,2,5/2,3/1,2,3,8 = $14.40

Race 1 - (3) KIMS DESIRE has been solid in most of the $8,500 claimers that didn't have Goldies Bad Girl in it. She draws well and fired fine off the two-week hiatus. (2) DAPPLE APPLE was shuffled last week and closed well when she got room. She gets an inside post and is in line for a good trip. (1) IDEAL SPACE makes her first start off the claim. She gets the rail but goes up in class; could supply value underneath.

Race 2 - (2) SMILE IN STYLE tired badly last time after setting the tempo. She is right back in quick so we will assume there is nothing amiss. This makes her third start off the layoff. (6) AND NOW THERES YOU chased a solid tempo last out. She meets easier tonight for her new connections and St Louis will have her forwardly placed. (4) NORTHERN BELLE defeated similar two starts back. Her qualifier was good enough at Flamboro. She merits attention.

Race 3 - (4) FOX VALLEY VETO gets a trifecta of first time St Louis, first time Shepherd, and class relief. She figures to make a splash on local debut. (3) WEST RIVER CINDY gets her second start at this level after a non-threatening effort from the second tier in her latest.  She is in a better spot to contend here. (2) LITTLE RED CHEV made an untimely break while moving in her latest. She deserves another chance.

Race 4 - (1) JIMMY WINTIPS draws the pylons in an incredibly easy spot. He has been racing evenly, and the post draw may be all it takes. (2) GO RRRILLA draws a bit better after an uncovered middle move in his latest. He could be in line for a better journey tonight. (8) LIL MOE MONEY makes his debut for strong connections. Considering he has form and post issues here, he will likely be undervalued from this spot.

Race 5 - Which (3) OKAY MATT will show up? The one that went gate-to-wire two starts back or the one that didn't fare well from off the pace last out? Given the value we are expecting to get, we will hope for the former. (2) GREYSTONE WISKY O made the front last time and that was all she wrote. He draws well again and figures to be on or near the lead at every call. (4) SPORTSCAM gets the services of Roy after he was a beaten favorite in his last. He will have every opportunity to make amends.

Race 6 - (5) HUSSYS BLU BOY was claimed two races back by good connections and raced well in his last against a tougher field. Roy hops aboard as the veteran looks to make amends. (3) SPIDER MAN HANOVER is obviously the one to beat. He is a two-time beaten favorite with loads of speed, gets a class drop, and St Louis hops aboard. (8) STONEBRIDGE STING has been on a form spree of late; finishing no worse than second in his last four starts. He draws post 8, but will that cramp his racing style? (6) STROKIN is back down to a level where he is most dangerous. (4) SLOTS OF FUN has closed mildly with worse post draws. He could be in position to snatch up a minor share here.

Race 7 - (2) FIGHTYOUROBSESSION just could not stay with the torrid tempo set last time. He draws well and Coulter sticks with. That may be enough here. (4) PLAIN EASY gets first time St Louis after a scratch sick. He also gets post improvement, which may spur a more aggressive effort. (6) MACK THE KNIFE gets an easier group after a dud from post 7 in his latest. This is the easiest field he has seen in a while, which may begin an uptrend in form.

Race 8 - (1) MELANIES MAGIC hasn't been getting off the gate well in her last few and that has hurt. Coulter is back and she does have some speed. We are hoping she can work out a trip at decent odds. (5) ARTS FIRST LUCK has been so solid over the past month or so. He tried to cut the mile last time and was snagged by Mystic Messenger. You must respect his chances. (2) MYSTIC MESSENGER was able to grind away Arts First Luck last time in a thrilling stretch duel. Has the post advantage over (5) tonight.

Race 9 - (2) SPICEY VICTOR was giant in defeat last time. He draws well for new connections and Coulter stays with off this lateral move in class. (3) STAR PHOTO didn't get the best trip last time coming off a solid go two starts back. He draws and fits well here. (8) MANY A MAN may be the one to beat off the class drop. What kind of trip does the second tier starting spot bring? Are you willing to sacrifice value on others to find out?

Race 10 - (2) EURO CLASSIC had no tempo to chase in a short field last time. He draws well and the early fractions may be a bit more conducive for closers here. (8) NEBRASKA JACK meets an easier Preferred 3 field here tonight. You never know what the second tier starting spot can bring, but he has versatility. He is certainly a threat. (3) CAROLUZZO has ridden the pylons to minor shares in his last two but does own speed. He draws well and, if he gets forwardly placed, he could be dangerous from this spot. (1) ALL OUT HENRY made a move against a strong winner in his last. He draws well and the going gets a bit easier. (9) KATCH KANNA draws the second tier on local debut. He invades with some promising lines, although we don't really know where he fits in the north.
