Mike Bozich's Western Fair Selections: Monday, April 15, 2019

Best Bet - (3) UF BETTORS HANOVER - Race 5
Spot Play - (6) CHEDDAR BAY - Race 8
Early Pick 4 - 1,2,5/1,3,6/3/5,8 = 3.60
Late Pick 4 - 2,/2,5,6/1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8/3,4,6 = $14.40

Race 1 - (1) CAMSKING came into his last start sharp but was out of position in the cover flow in a fairly fast mile. The draw will help his chances immensely. (5) SPORTSLINE obviously has some gait issues. Qualifier indicates readiness. Needs to mind his manners. Could be the one to catch. (6) COME ON BARNEY simply had no position at big odds in his last. Has early speed and may put it to use to get a spot.

Race 2 - (5) MACH DIESEL will probably never see a field this soft again. Made a miscue at the start and still was a threat to win in his last. That was against a tougher field. It's his to win or lose. (7) BETTOR BE DUKE showed tactical speed a few starts back from the outside. There is zero speed on paper. Been tangling with Treasures Pirate at Flamboro, who has won three straight. (6) TAILS AWAY raced ok in his last few coming from well off the pace at Flamboro. First start of the year and the qualifier was so-so.

Race 3 - (1) NOAHS MILL will obviously be hard to stop from this post. He just crushed a like group two starts back. Beaten favorite against tougher at Mohawk in his most recent. Short price. (5) BRAVADO SEELSTER has been taking shares frequently at this level. May be able to lurk in the cover flow and pick up some pieces providing us value underneath. (2) GOOD EYE HAWKEYE has broken our hearts for two straight weeks now. A tougher group awaits, but the draw should keep him close.

Race 4 - (1) BAD YANKEE is 0 for 32 but raced much improved in his most recent. A kinder trip should await him from this post. Soft field. (3) MADETOBEKING just could not get there off a dream trip in his latest. Figures to be forwardly placed with no speed inside of him. Big threat. (6) CATCH MY CONTRAIL was well meant last time but gave way following the uncovered journey. If the cover flow is stable, he may be able to finish with a bit more strength.

Race 5 - (3) UF BETTORS HANOVER finds a great spot to get his first win of the season. Last time at this level, he blasted from the far outside post at Flamboro and held third. It's his to win or lose. (1) BLUE CHIP SUNSHINE posted a nice qualifier with the trainer in the bike in his last. Draws well and gets Shepherd. A contender. (8) ETERNAL RULER has tired badly in each of his last two starts but does have past success against this level. Second tier starting spot behind good speed could aid his form issues.

Race 6 - (8) ADORE HIM is in a race where many horses just seem to win when they are dropped at a certain level. He has winning trips at classifications higher than these. He is much better. (5) MERCENARY has speed to burn and is at a level where it should be effective. Major player. (2) GRITS N GRAVY posted a competitive final time in his last in relation to these. Inside post aids his ability to share against tougher. (6) ROUGH TRADE is not the fastest off the wings but does have a solid late kick which can result in a minor placing here. (1) JACK OF CLUBS gets the rail draw which should aid. Nearly all the way last time at a similar post.

Race 7 - (2) LITTLEBITASWAGGER is dropping from the opens to a mid-level condition that is not the strongest. Big speed to boot. A short price unfortunately. (5) MOONWRITER was seeing an uptick in form until taking a trip to Mohawk. Back against types where he should be competitive. (4) BULLDOG TENACITY gets class and post relief. Went gate to wire last out at this level.

Race 8 - (6) CHEDDAR BAY was a horse I liked a lot last week off the bench and raced evenly with the trainer in the bike. Coulter tonight! (5) BEACH MAJOR started poor and finished poor in his most recent. Back in the box without time off and armed with a new driver. (2) RAM N DESIRE raced poorly last out. Previous efforts suggest we include. Especially with this level and post.

Race 9 - (6) ARTISTIC PICK is my call in a wide-open race. He floated, was shuffled, and closed fast in his last. Many coming up in class while he has faced these all throughout. Demand value here. (1) THE LOAN RANGER likes to pick his spots on the class ladder but this isn't the strongest open he has seen. The draw aids immensely. (4) WIND BLAST was conservative in his most recent starts until last out, when he fired with reckless abandon. His versatility gives him options here.

Race 10 - (6) SINGHAMPTON KENNY is always an interesting prospect. Fired speed two back and finished a wilting 4th. Followed that up with a closing third. Question here is what kind of value will you accept? (3) SHIPPEN OUT was buried behind heavy traffic last out. A clearer trip will see him achieve a higher placing. (1) REGALLY MAGNIFIED has some hits and misses on his recent resume. Has good enough form that the draw should guarantee him a slice. (4) OUT THINK EM will be interesting off the claim and his three-race win streak vs cheaper. (9) LAUTNER SEELSTER is always in the mix at this level. Trip is the key from the extended second tier.
