Michael Carter’s Flamboro Selections: Thursday, April 25, 2019
Best Bet - (1) HOPES SOLO - Race 3
Spot Play - (8) KAYMAR CHROME – Race 8
Early Pick 4 – 1,4,7/1,2,4,5/2/1,7,8 - $7.20
Late Pick 4 – 1,2,9/ALL/2/5 - $4.80

Race 1 - (3) TENOR DUHARAS bounced back to a good performance last out and looked sharp in that effort.  When he is on or near the lead he is tough to beat. (5) ADVENTURE AHEAD was stung to the first quarter last week and never truly recovered from it.  He will be coming late in the mile.  (1) HOLIDAY HOLLY draws the rail this week against a pretty tough group.  She knows how to fight late, that is something I admire.

Race 2 - (4) HOPETOBEFIRST adds Lasix for the first time after a game win at Western Fair last out.  He has been racing well and that luck should continue against this group.  (5) STROKIN has won two straight races and with different tactics.  The versatility this gelding possesses cannot be ignored. (3) REGALLY MAGNIFIED got the perfect trip last week and when he finally shook free, he came roaring late.  Definitely a play.

Race 3 - (1) HOPES SOLO didn’t put in the best effort last week and faded badly against tough company at Mohawk Park. She returns to a track where she has done well. (4) Y A MUSCLE MASS has won three of his last four starts.  He is a big closer who has proven he can overcome adversity. Worth a look. (7) KIMCO KID draws tough tonight but drops in class for trainer Colin Johnson.  He could hit the board against these.

Race 4 - (5) STEALING CREDIT looked sharp last week following over a month off.  I expect that success to continue.  (4) CRAZY LUKE DUKE has only missed the board one time in six starts and that effort he only missed by a length.  He is a very game gelding who merits a long look here. (2) TREASURES PIRATE has won three straight and now he faces tougher company.  I expect him to be close to the pace, but he will have to battle a little harder this week.

Race 5 - (2) COLD CREEK LACEY really has been consistent against this class.  She is a versatile mare who should not be discounted. (1) BILLIONDOLARSECRET draws well this week for the first time in a couple of starts.  I look for another big effort with her leaving from the rail. (6) CLASSIC BLACKJACK got the trip last week came first up and just didn’t have it.  Giving another chance to hit the board at a price.

Race 6 - (7) STOLEN SECRETS raced well from off the pace last week at the distance of a 1-1/16 miles in London.  She has proven she can compete at Flamboro and I think she could be victorious again tonight. (1) SIN FOR CREDIT got the trip last week and scored easily for trainer Mark McCormack.  She draws better this week and that should allow her to flash her speed. (8) DREAMS OF MINE is a speedy mare who has been unlucky as far as the draw is concerned.  She has held her own and should be close again.

Race 7 - (9) FERN HILL BELLA had a rough start to 2019 but has since come into form as of late.  The second tier should allow her to sit on cover for a bit, then close. (1) PLAY WITH PASSION has had two tough efforts from the outside; throw those out.  She has speed and should be able to use it from the inside. (2) DOUBLE T GRRR has been struggling as of late, but I think the post has a little bit to do with it.  Going to throw her a bone here.  (3) POETIC DREAM has some speed to work with, but this class has been a little tough for her.  She is, however, capable of making it into the High-5 ticket based off her recent efforts.  (5) SO LONG SUGAR added Alfie Carroll a few starts back and while she has only seen the winners’ circle once, she has been racing decently.  She could hit the High-5 ticket this week.

Race 8 - (8) KAYMAR CHROME draws tough but is dropping in class tonight for trainer Michael Dowling. The outside post this week and that is the only concern.  (1) RETURN TO STYLE is another class dropper who gets the benefit of the draw this week.  Another that could be a part of the early skirmish. (3) CASIMIR PARDON ME from a speed rating (TM) perspective should be on the ticket.  This is the value of the race underneath.

Race 9 - (2) ARTIAWITCHTOYOU improved last week following a miscue on April 11.  She has a good early kick and should be in the mix if she behaves.  (8) SAULSBROOK CORAL has only missed the board once in her last four efforts and she has been rolling in those trips.  Look for her to get into the race late and make the ticket. (3) THRIFT SHOP has some speed to work with, the problem I have with her is the inability to pass many horses.  She is very much a trip dependent horse.

Race 10 - (5) EMMALULU steps up to face tougher company following a good qualifier.  She will likely be the pace-setter and in a good spot to win.  (2) YOOOUKILIS drops to face easier company this week and while he has some speed, he hasn’t been a proven winner this year. (6) ANGELS KID got the trip last week and looked like he might pounce on the leaders down the lane and he just didn’t go forward.  Draw was a little tough to him this week, but I think he has a chance to hit the ticket.  (7) OLE JACK MAGIC drops in class and the shippers from Mohawk Park have been performing well thus far.  (9) ENCHANTED MISSION should be able to follow inside speed out and get a better trip this week.
