Jennifer Morrison's Woodbine Selections: Friday, November 29, 2019
Best Bet – (5) FLORIDA WON – Race 2
Spot Play –  (3) LADY NOGUEZ – Race 6
Pick 4  (.20 cents, Races 4-7)  - 4, 7, 10 / 4, 6, 10 /2, 3, 5 / 6.,7 = $10.80

RACE 1 – (5) DESERT POEM has been a wonder for her owner and trainer Tony Gattellaro this season with four wins in seven races and she has won her last three. Of course, she has never won on the Tapeta surface but has been in the top three six times from seven attempts on the main track. She just beat a few of these on the grass last time and Eurico da Silva rides for the suspended Kazushi Kimura. (4) SAILOR'S THOUGHT ended the 2018 season with a win on the Tapeta and will try to do the same thing. She has been lightly raced this year so she is fresh and she has some tactical speed. (6) STOP WHO'S THAT took both wins in 2019 on turf but she handles the main track just fine and she returns to her best class level.

RACE 2 – (5) FLORIDA WON drops one class level to $20,000 after he had a soft performance off the Martin Drexler claim. This classy earner of over $500,000 had two months before that race and he didn't seem to care for the very fast pace. Leading rider Eurico da Silva gets a turn.  (3) DIFFERENTIAL ran a new top Beyer Figure when claimed in August but he has been in tough spots in two starts since then. He drops to below the claimed price and his tactical speed will be dangerous. (6) FORESTER'S DESTINY was in the same fast race as the top pick last time and he moved very early to take the lead but understandably tired.

RACE 3 –  (6) HE'S A GIZMO has shown some promise in his first three starts including his latest when trying Tapeta for the first time at this 1 1/16 mile distance. The third place finisher from that race just came back to win Wednesday night. (5) STOP THE HUMBUG was claimed from his latest when favoured and he was once again in the top three in a turf race. He has not hit the top three yet on the Tapeta but also has never raced at the route distance on the main track. (3) BREAK AND ENTER lures Eurico da Silva for his 12th try at the maiden win and this Colebrook Farms homebred drops in class to his best level.

RACE 4 – (7) CHIRICAHUA SIGNAL has won more money this year than he did in 2018 and he is a steady guy who is rarely off the superfecta ticket. He drops to $10,000 claiming and has never been this low before. Another class dropper is (10) HOLLYWOOD CRITIC who is 3 for 6 at the seven furlong distance and he is a rich 7-year-old. (4) PERFECT FORESTER is a wonderful old guy who runs big almost every time and it has been a long time since he has run for this $9,500 claiming price. The seven furlong distance is the big question for him.

RACE 5 – (6) HIGHRISEINTHEPEG was fourth at this 1 1/16 mile distance the only time he tried it and the winner came back to win a stakes race. He will get his blinkers back following a mild rally in a sprint. (4) VELOCE is the favourite and he ran a winning race at this level and distance last time, moving wide to take the lead into the stretch only to be nabbed at the wire. (10) TIZ TAP TANGO was very slow from the gate last time but had a good orally while racing greenly in the stretch. He will have blinkers on and note the two consecutive gate workouts.

RACE 6 –  (3) LADY NOGUEZ is making her second career start and first try at 1 1/16 miles. This 2-year-old filly is by the talented route horse Conquest Curlinate and the dam, by Sadler's Wells, has produced 2 route winners. (5) CEFALO has been second in a pair of route races for maiden fillies and she just needs to save a bit more power for the last furlong. (2) CLEARLY SEEN tried the boys last time and she had a bit of a rough journey but closed a gap in the stretch run.

Race 7 –  The very fleet (7) RAPID BEAT will be tested by the six furlong distance but his trainer Norm McKnight has been on a serious roll of late and is just one win away from tying Mark Casse for leading trainer coming into today. (6) BITETHEBULLETBRO is also quick at times and he drops to his lowest level of his career. (1) HESATHRILLER meets easier as well and he has some closing power if the pace weakens in the stretch.

Race 8 – (2) SILENCIUM is making only his third start of the season and he tumbles sharply in class for Stronach Stables and trainer Robert Tiller, who is just three wins shy of 2,000 victories. The blinkers are on this quick 3-year-old. (13) THANKS AGAIN needs a scratch to draw in but would be interesting based on his Beyer Figure of 61 when he wo his maiden. (4) SPEED GAUGE has raced just twice in his career and was second both times but awarded one of those the win. He is seen as an improving sophomore.
