Racing Under Saddle set for Dresden
Friday afternoon’s Canada Day card of racing will feature something special for race fans in the ninth race as five riders will mount up and bring a wagering Racing Under Saddle race to Ontario’s Little Saratoga.

Racing Under Saddle is a combination of thoroughbred racing and standardbred racing that gained popularity in Europe and is growing in popularity.

The sport features standardbred horses that usually race with a driver and sulky with the twist of having a rider as they do in thoroughbred racing.

The five-horse field features riders from across the world and will feature pari-mutuel wagering.

Marit Valstad hails from Tondheim, Norway and has been racing under saddle since she was 18 and has worked with Standardbreds her whole life. Valstad will be aboard CALLIE MAGOO from post one.

The two horse is PRECIOUS PHOEBE for rider Sarah Town. Town has been riding since age six and calls Owen Sound Ontario Home.

CELEBRITY LEGACY will be guided be Alex Marion. Marion is from France and has been working with horses for most of his life.

Brittany Kennedy is the trainer and rider for number four E L Rock. Kennedy is from McGregor, Ontario and does double duty as a Registered Massage Therapist and horse trainer.

Chatham’s Evelyn Harms will ride number five SOUTHWIND ALICE. Harms works for harness trainer Bill Kirkpatrick.
SOUTHWIND ALICE and Harms are the 7-5 favourite while Kennedy and E L Rock are listed as the 5-2 second favourite.

The Canada Day card of racing that will feature a giant 8ft cake decorated as a Canadian Flag as well is many giveaways and contests.
