“His name is Turkish. He is giant and orange. He shipped in towards the end of the Woodbine meet one year, where he terrorized everyone with his intimidating size and quirky wild card personality. He then joined the Florida string, and us two 'new kids' got acquainted. We had a fairytale relationship: girl meets big misunderstood horse, girl and horse start rocky if slightly volatile partnership, girl and horse begin to understand what the other wants, turn rocky relationship into love story, the end.

Turkey taught me a lot along that progression, and I can't imagine my life without him.

My favorite Turkey memory is the time my friend (Emily Fisher) and I managed to convince the trainer that it would be a great idea to take the barn pony and Turkey for a hack around the backside. In theory it sounded great, every horse loves a nice relaxing hack. Wrong. Turkey managed to turn it into a safari survival ride.

When I think of Turkey, not just one thing comes to mind. Turkey creates a sensory overload.”
